Non Traditional Marketing

If we could define non-traditional, it would no longer be non-traditional. Instead, we can only assail you with a barrage of past “non-traditional” ideas: bathroom ads, jumper cables, teddy bears, window displays, mouse pads, coffee mugs, pizzas, disposable cameras, text campaigns, guitar picks… and on and on and on and on.

Fit for a Queen

HenkinSchultz
Let us spell it out for you: this throne was built for a B—a queen bee, that is. HenkinSchultz Designer Jason Jellis handcrafted this stately throne for South Dakota Advertising Federation’s Chairity fundraiser. Fittingly, this stately throne was auctioned off to benefit the State Theatre, also known as the “last jewel in the crown of historic downtown.”

Avera Heart Hospital
Planet Heart is a popular heart health screening at the Avera Heart Hospital that checks for calcium build-up in the heart, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar levels and more. To help keep people’s hearts healthy, The Avera Heart Hospital wanted a way to stay connected with people after they leave their screenings.

Planet Heart Health, an e-newsletter, is sent quarterly to Planet Heart participants who’ve opted in to the e-newsletters by providing their e-mail addresses. The e-newsletters keep readers up-to-date on the latest heart health news and provide important healthcare information from physicians, dietitians and other experts at the Avera Heart Hospital. Links within the e-mail direct people to the Avera Heart Hospital’s website for more information or to make appointments.

Avera Heart Hospital

So the hospital advertised on what is essentially a moving bulletin board—the public transit buses in Sioux Falls.

Social media offer us an opportunity to get immediate feedback in ways that other areas of advertising don’t. With social media, we have the ability to listen to what people are saying about us and gives us the opportunity to respond — that can do a lot for a brand.
