Copywriter Position
June 14, 2013
In a traditional sense, this is what we do: marketing and advertising in the heart of the midwest. We do more – a lot more – but if you’re looking for the definition of an advertising agency, it’s right here. In other words, these are the insights and current trends in print, television, radio and more from HenkinSchultz.

Orion Foods Systems provides high-quality food service solutions and products nationwide. Therefore, they needed an upscale image piece to communicate this high level of quality and present their products in a visually enticing way. A palate of light, warm and earthy colors created the backdrop for a layout that allowed their food products to steal the show on each spread. Selective use of decorative elements and typographic call-outs also bring a touch of class to the piece, elevating their image to the level of their food offerings and service.
EmBe (formerly known as the YWCA) gathered together a committee of board members, employees and external constituents to discuss the local organization’s disaffiliation from the national YWCA in an effort to better meet the needs of the Sioux Falls community. Working with HenkinSchultz over the past year on the re-branding process—developing a new name, tagline, logo and color palette—we worked with EmBe to identify what their brand really is, at its most basic level. With a history and brand of empowering and influencing the lives of women and their families, that concept became its name and tagline: EmBe – Empowering you to Be.
The City of Luverne assembled city leaders, business owners and residents to help lead Luverne’s re-branding process. HenkinSchultz worked closely with the community’s constituents to identify the unique value and attractions that create Luverne’s brand and sets the city apart. Keeping Luverne’s audiences in mind, from reconnecting with residents and local businesses to reaching more visitors, the re-branding process was not only an opportunity to revitalize Luverne’s image, but to also reestablish its presence as a place to live and visit in the state of Minnesota.
Recently, Orion Food Systems created a new restaurant concept that needed a fresh brand. The key to getting the concept right was knowing the customers and putting them first.
High-energy foods need a high-energy brand. That’s when HenkinSchultz came in to develop the concept and look of the marketing materials. We chose the name “Chopz” for the brand because it works on several levels; depending on the context, it means mouth, skills or a cut of meat. The tagline “eat to win” implies that food is fuel, but in a more interesting, competitive way. Stripes and shiny, chrome-like details gave the campaign a sports feel. We applied the new logo and look to posters, flyers, signage and an animated video.
South Dakota State University Foundation
The SDSU Foundation appealed to donors’ nostalgia during its $200 million capital campaign. The foundation used the theme “It Starts With State” to remind donors that the university is where many started their educations, careers and even marriages. That message instantly connects donors with why making a donation that will expand, strengthen and revitalize SDSU is so crucial.

Los Cabos Children’s Foundation
The Amy & Vince’s Fred Duckett Golf Challenge raises money for the Los Cabos Children’s Foundation. The look, which was used for the program and hole flags, was fun and uplifting. Materials featured stories of children whose lives had been changed thanks to the support of the Los Cabos Children’s Foundation.
